Aaron Tveit as Mike Warren in ‘Graceland’

Wow, wow, wow!  That is all I have to say about tonight’s season one finale of Graceland.  Ok so that’s not all I have to say, but it just about sums up everything that happened tonight.

The episode starts off with Mike putting a warrant out for Briggs.  Johnny gets the notice, sees Briggs in the house and… lets him go?  Come on Johnny!  When are you going to get it?  Briggs is the bad guy, here!  Although, I’m kind of glad Briggs was still around towards the end of the episode, but I’ll get to that later.

Jakes helps Briggs make a getaway, but Briggs passes his new identity along so that he can stay close by to hunt down the real Jangles.  And Mike knows it.  He knows Briggs was in love with Lisa and wants to get back at Jangles for burning down that house.  This isn’t something he’s going to let go.  At least now he (sort of) has the support he needs from the rest of the household.

One of my favorite parts of tonight’s episode was featured in previews leading up to the finale – the montage of interviews conducted with the Graceland gang about the Briggs investigation.  Absolutely brilliant and hilarious.  I thought it showed off each character’s personality and it was a nice quick way of opening the can of worms.  Everyone now knows everything… except who Charlie has been hanging out with.

Speaking of who Charlie is hanging out with… I cannot believe she still trusts this dude!  Wake up, Charlie!  It’s Jangles!  I’m so glad Briggs caught wind of this situation and stepped in (also why I’m kind of glad Johnny didn’t take him down) because, let’s be honest, Charlie would’ve been a human kabob.  Actually, they both would have been if Mike hadn’t picked up Briggs’ phone number that fell out of Jakes’ pocket.

So when the bulk of the episode was wrapped up, Mike gets the news that he’s been promoted and will be heading back to the East Coast.  It was neat that the episode went a few minutes long because it gave a little extra ending, which set us up for season two.  But that discussion is for another day.

Two more things before I go…

  1. Laugh out loud at Mike stealing a Christmas display from Burger King.  I say this with all the love (and sarcasm) in the world… bad ass.
  2. Did you see that kiss?!  Oh Mikey, Mikey, Mikey.  I’m not going to lie, I was really looking forward to this Paige/Mike thing happening, but I guess Paige doesn’t think it was the best of ideas.  But come on!  How cute would they be, right?

I’m sorry to see this season of Graceland go, but I’m really looking forward to being re-united with the gang next summer.  I just don’t know if I can wait that long!  Thank you, Jeff Eastin, for another great series and bravo to this amazing cast!
